Language Dept is a multi-disciplinary design and branding firm in NY City. We work to define brands—through both strategy and execution—across all touchpoints, from naming to packaging to interactive platforms. We are a small, agile studio, where everyone on the team has a role in shaping the work, as well as the company. We are seeking a Production Designer with Project Management Skills to expand our team's growing project needs. Note, this is a 6 month position, with potential for full time.

Work collaboratively with designers and clients to ensure designs are realized to their full potential, across digital and print applications.
Prepare and finalize production-ready files for delivery to printers, installers, coders, and animators.
Map project requirements with the team.
Track timelines and communicate needs with clients.
Execute multiple projects at once and meet scheduled deadlines.
Work in a group dynamic, and actively participate on any given project.
Extend design concepts for print, packaging and digital projects while upholding graphic aesthetic and integrity of original design concepts.
Communicate with team on needs, ideas and requests.
Problem solve around design feedback from clients and coworkers.
Assist on presentation layout and cleanup.
Support the studio's own portfolio, presentations, press and promotion.

Must have a Bachelors degree in Design or related field.
3-4 years of experience, including direct client contact.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent grasp of design and layout fundamentals.
Resourcefulness, diligence, and creative problem solving skills.
Proficiency and experience in print production.
Working knowledge of photography basics.
An impeccable attention to detail.
Highly organized and self-sufficient with excellent time management skills.
A passion for creating and contributing to systems; ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Strong proficiency and experience in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) on MAC computers.
Experience with Sketch, Zeplin, Invision; working knowledge of front-end development (CSS and HTML) and experience within a CMS is a plus.
Comfortable with digital project communication and management tools such as Slack, Harvest and Dropbox Paper and flexibility in adopting new team tools when needed.
